A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Lake Jozan and Mt. Yotei. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Sapporo: Otaru (The Glass Studio in Otaru, Otaru Kihinkan, &more), Asahikawa (Kibana no Mori, Kamikawa Shrine, &more) and Furano (Furabi & Furano Shrine). Toronto, Canada to Sapporo is an approximately 19.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 14 hours traveling from Toronto to Sapporo. While traveling from Toronto, expect slightly colder days and about the same nights in Sapporo, ranging from highs of 15°C to lows of 11°C.
