Vancouver, Canada to Tokyo is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and flight. The time zone difference when traveling from Vancouver to Tokyo is 17 hours. Traveling from Vancouver in April, things will get somewhat warmer in Tokyo: highs are around 22°C and lows about 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Fri) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kyoto: Osaka (Dotonbori & Osaka Castle). Getting from Kanazawa to Kyoto by train takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus. In May in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 17°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Sun) early enough to take a train to Hiroshima.
