Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Visit Hase-dera Temple and Kanda Myojin for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Meigetsuin (Hydrangea Temple) and The National Art Center, Tokyo. Change things up with a short trip to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura (about 1h 15 min away). Get some cultural insight at Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Daihonzan Eihei-ji Temple. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Suganuma Gassho Community and Maruoka Castle. Explore Kanazawa's surroundings by going to Hakusan Shrine (Heisenji-Hakusan Shrine) (in Katsuyama), Shirakawa-mura (Kanda house, Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen, &more) and Gokayama (in Nanto). The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Shop till you drop at Dotombori District and Nishiki Market Shopping District. Popular historic sites such as Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji are in your itinerary. Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Minami (Namba) in Namba, about 1h 10 min away. Naha, the capital of Okinawa, has deep roots: Stone Age relics have been found in the city, and through the Middle Ages it rose in importance in the Ryukyu Kingdom.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
We've included these beaches for you: Sunayama Beach and Yonaha Maehama Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Aragusuku Beach and Kouri Island.
