Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Senjokaku, and then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Misen. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: look for gifts at Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street, head off the coast to Miyajima, take an in-depth tour of Itsukushima Shrine Homotsukan, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Itsukushima Shrine Torii, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Daishoin Temple, and finally get outside with Mikasahama Beach.

You can take a train from Himeji to Hatsukaichi in 2 hours. Another option is to drive. Expect a daytime high around 22°C in April, and nighttime lows around 13°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Tue) early enough to travel to Onna-son.

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
Shop till you drop at Onna Station Nakayukui Market and AEONMALL OKINAWA RYCOM. Get some cultural insight at Okinawa Prefecture Karate Museum and Okinawa Peace Memorial Park. Get out of town with these interesting Onna-son side-trips: Nakijin Castle Ruins (in Nakijin-son), Sefa-Utaki (in Nanjo) and Motobu-cho (Emerald Beach & Sesoko Beach). There's still lots to do: see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, Head underground at Blue Cave, kick back and relax at Diamond Beach, and see the vivid underwater world at Manza Dream Hole.

Do a combination of flight and bus from Hatsukaichi to Onna-son in 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, flight, and bus; or do a combination of train and ferry. In April, Onna-son is somewhat warmer than Hatsukaichi - with highs of 28°C and lows of 20°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Sun) early enough to travel to Yakushima-cho.

The resort town of Yamanouchi-machi has plenty of contrasting, but complementary things going for it.
Kick off your visit on the 17th (Fri): take in the natural beauty of Jigokudani Funsen, identify plant and animal life at Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park, soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, hit the slopes at Shigakogen Sun Valley Ski Area, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Yokote, and finally get outside with Shigakogen Plateau.
