A tiny island in the Yae-yama archipelago, Taketomi-jima enjoys popularity as a beach getaway, best known for its stretches of "star sand"--sand made up of tiny star-shaped exoskeletons of ancient fossils.

Onna-son

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
You've now added Ryukyu Mura to your itinerary. Visit Zakimi Castle Ruins and Iha Noor Tomb for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Parasailing & Paragliding and Manza Dream Hole. Explore Onna-son's surroundings by going to Amamichu Tomb (in Uruma) and Ginoza Museum (in Ginoza-son).
