Start off your visit on the 12th (Wed): hunt for treasures at Hakodate Morning Market, contemplate the long history of The Old Public Hall of Hakodate Ward, then steep yourself in history at Iai Kindergarten, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Hakodate Orthodox Church, and finally wander the streets of Motomachi. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 13th (Thu): get outside with Onuma Park Walking Path, then look for gifts at Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, then don't miss a visit to Hachimanzaka, and finally get advice or help at Hakodate Community Design Center.

Visit Tokyo National Museum and Senso-ji Temple for their historical value. You'll explore and learn at Edo-Tokyo Museum and Ghibli Museum. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Minato Mirai 21 (in Yokohama) and Ikspiari (in Urayasu). There's much more to do: wander the streets of Ginza, shop like a local with Asakusa, and make a trip to Omotesando.

Fly from Hakodate to Tokyo in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or drive. Traveling from Hakodate in December, things will get somewhat warmer in Tokyo: highs are around 14°C and lows about 4°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sun) so you can travel to Yakushima-cho.

A popular destination for Japanese tourists, Kumage-gun Yakushima-cho is a true paradise for nature lovers, with over 1,900 species and subspecies of plants.
On the 17th (Mon), identify plant and animal life at Yakusugi Land. On your second day here, look for gifts at Sugisho, then take a stroll through Wilson Stump, then explore the stunning scenery at Shiratani Unsuikyo Valley, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Ushidokomoisho.

You can do a combination of flight and taxi from Tokyo to Yakushima-cho in 6 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train, bus, flight, and taxi; or do a combination of flight, car, and ferry. Traveling from Tokyo in December, expect Yakushima-cho to be somewhat warmer, temps between 18°C and 12°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Tue) so you can travel to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
Start off your visit on the 19th (Wed): take a memorable drive along Chirihama Nagisa Driveway, then contemplate the long history of Oyama Shrine, then take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ninja Temple. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at D. T. Suzuki Museum, wander the streets of Gokayama, then buy something for everyone on your list at Kanazawa Hyakubangai Shopping Center, and finally steep yourself in history at Nomura Family Samurai House.

Traveling by combination of taxi, flight, and train from Yakushima-cho to Kanazawa takes 7 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi, flight, bus, and train; or do a combination of car, ferry, and train. Traveling from Yakushima-cho in December, things will get a bit cooler in Kanazawa: highs are around 11°C and lows about 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

Do your shopping at Dotonbori and Minami (Namba). Popular historic sites such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Nijo-jo Castle are in your itinerary. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, and make a trip to Gion.

You can take a train from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. In December in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 13°C during the day and 4°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 23rd (Sun) so you can travel to Ishigaki.

On the 24th (Mon), steep yourself in history at Ishigaki Yaima Village, kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, and then visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki. Keep things going the next day: look for gifts at Yurateiku Market, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Kaiji Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Kondoi Beach.

Step off the beaten path and head to Sunayama Beach and Aragusuku Beach. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Atarasu Ichiba and Furusato. And it doesn't end there: stroll through Yonaha Maehama Beach, explore the activities along Toriike Pond, enjoy the sand and surf at Toguchi no Hama, and step off the mainland to explore Kouri Island.
