A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Hokkaido Jingu and Fushimi Inari Shrine will appeal to history buffs. The Hokkaido University Museum and Miyabe Kingo Memorial Building are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of Sapporo to go to Kutchan-cho and see Niseko Hanazono Resort, which is approximately 1h 40 min away. On the 20th (Mon), don't miss a visit to Nishiki Market, examine the collection at Kyoto Railway Museum, then look for gifts at Fuuka-Kimono, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Kamogawa River.
