Ishigaki

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Step out of the city life by going to Yonehara Beach and Cape Hirakubozaki. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Kondoi Beach and Kayaking & Canoeing. There's lots more to do: glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, walk around Kabira Park, enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory, and take a leisurely stroll along Nishi Pier.

Queenstown, New Zealand to Ishigaki is an approximately 21.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 3 hours traveling from Queenstown to Ishigaki. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Step out of the city life by going to Sunayama Beach and Scuba & Snorkeling. Explore hidden gems such as Aragusuku Beach and Ikema Ohashi Bridge. There's still lots to do: head off the coast to Shimojiiima Island, snap pictures at Irabu Bridge, explore the gorgeous colors at Yabiji, and make a trip to East Henna Cape.

Traveling by ferry from Iriomote-jima to Miyakojima takes 4 hours. In January in Miyakojima, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 19°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 9th (Thu) early enough to travel to Onna-son.

Located on the coast in the middle of the island, Onna-son has become known for its beaches and seaside economy.
On the 10th (Fri), see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, then explore the striking landscape at Tobera Rock, and then contemplate the long history of Nakijin Castle Ruins.
