Kailua-Kona, Island of Hawaii

Thanks to its favorable location near a mountain range blocking the northeasterly trade winds, Kailua-Kona gets little rainfall, allowing adventure seekers and nature lovers a chance to enjoy over 300 days of sunshine each year.
Visit Hapuna Beach State Recreation Area and Manini'owali Beach (Kua Bay) for some beach relaxation. Get some cultural insight at Kealakekua Bay and Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park. Go for a jaunt from Kailua-Kona to Honaunau to see Honaunau Bay about 44 minutes away. There's lots more to do: look for all kinds of wild species at Kanaloa Octopus Farm, contemplate the waterfront views at Kahaluu Bay, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mauna Kea, and get engrossed in the history at Kona Coffee Living History Farm.

To see photos, other places to visit, and other tourist information, read Kailua-Kona attractions planner.
