The 2013 European "Capital of Culture," Marseille is the largest port city on the breezy Mediterranean coast and the second largest city in France.
On the 10th (Tue), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Vincent de Paul Church, steep yourself in history at Palais Longchamp, then get engrossed in the history at Musee d'Archeologie Mediterraneenne, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathédrale La Major, and finally see the interesting displays at Musee Regards de Provence. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 11th (Wed): step off the mainland to explore Ile de frioul, tour the pleasant surroundings at Plage de la Pointe Rouge, then stop by Savonnerie Marseillaise de la Licorne, then wander the streets of The Panier, and finally examine the collection at Centre de la Vieille Charite.

On the Garonne River, Toulouse is on the site of an ancient Roman settlement, and even today, many of the smaller streets follow their Roman counterparts, while many of the red brick buildings are built in a pseudo-Roman style.
Head to Marche Victor Hugo and Hotel d'Assezatfor plenty of shopping. Visiting Canal de Brienne (Le) and Garonne will get you outdoors. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilique Saint-Sernin, don't miss a visit to Le Capitole, steep yourself in history at Church of Les Jacobins, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Quai de la Daurade.
