Tucked snugly beneath a steep, craggy mount--known as Castle Hill--the vibrant city of Townsville is as picturesque as its backdrop.
Step out of the city life by going to The Strand and Many Peaks Walking Track. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Museum of Tropical Queensland and Bowling Green Bay National Park. Step out of Townsville to go to Alligator Creek and see Alligator Falls Track, which is approximately 38 minutes away. There's lots more to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Douglas Mountain Bike Reserve, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St James Cathedral, contemplate the long history of Kissing Point Fort, and take in the exciting artwork at Pinnacles Gallery.
