Get a sense of the local culture at Tokyo National Museum and Sensō-ji. Edo-Tokyo Museum and The National Art Center, Tokyo will appeal to museum buffs. Change things up with a short trip to Ghibli Museum Mitaka in Mitaka (about 44 minutes away). There's much more to do: take a stroll through Odaiba, learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Ueno Zoo, admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower, and get a taste of the local shopping with Asakusa.

Austin, USA to Tokyo is an approximately 19-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and train.
