Getting from Iriomote-jima to Miyakojima by ferry takes about 4 hours. In June, daily temperatures in Miyakojima can reach 36°C, while at night they dip to 30°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Sat) early enough to travel to Kyoto.

Step off the beaten path and head to Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Chirihama Nagisa Driveway. Do some cultural sightseeing at Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple and Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kanazawa: Shirakawa-mura (Ogimachi Castle Old Site Observatory & The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses), Maruoka Castle (in Sakai) and Gallery Otera (in Takaoka). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at D. T. Suzuki Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Fukumitsuya Sake Brewery, Kanazawa.

Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Kyoto in June: highs in Kanazawa hover around 28°C, while lows dip to 20°C.
