Finland's largest and most populated metropolis, the maritime town of Helsinki boasts varied architecture, a lively cafe culture, and plethora of picturesque natural delights.
Step out of Helsinki with an excursion to Nuuksio National Park in Espoo--about 48 minutes away. The adventure continues: brush up on your military savvy at Sea Fortress Suomenlinna, take in the spiritual surroundings of Uspenskin Cathedral (Uspenskin Katedraali), take in the architecture and atmosphere at Temppeliaukio Church, and get engrossed in the history at Seurasaari Island and Open-Air Museum.

Manchester, UK to Helsinki is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of bus and flight; or do a combination of flight and ferry. The time zone changes from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) to Eastern European Time (EET), which is usually a 2 hour difference. In June, daily temperatures in Helsinki can reach 21°C, while at night they dip to 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Fri) so you can catch the ferry to Tallinn.

On the 8th (Mon), stop by Dzenis Amber, wander the streets of Old City Riga (Vecriga), then hunt for treasures at Central Market (Centraltirgus), and finally appreciate the history behind Freedom Monument.

Traveling by flight from Tallinn to Riga takes 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. June in Riga sees daily highs of 24°C and lows of 13°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 9th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Vilnius.
