Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Venture out of the city with trips to Nurek Dam (in Nurek), Monument The Motherland (in Vahdat) and Hisor (Hisor HIstorical and Cultural Preserve & Hisor Fortress). Spend a fun-filled day on the 12th (Sat) at Delfin Aquapark.
