The largest and most populous city in New Zealand, Auckland combines a rich history and thriving contemporary culture in an abundance of museums, art galleries, and performance venues.
Take a break from the city and head to Tiritiri Matangi Visitor Centre and Rangitoto Island. Do some cultural sightseeing at Auckland War Memorial Museum and Stockade Hill. Step out of Auckland to go to Waiheke Island and see Wine Tours & Tastings, which is approximately 1h 40 min away. The adventure continues: head off the coast to Waiheke Island, stroll through Cheltenham Beach, work some fitness into your day at Nelson Street Cycleway, and do a tasting at Foxes Island.

You can drive from Auckland to Rotorua in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or fly. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Rotorua when traveling from Auckland in February, with lows around 19°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 6th (Thu) so you can travel to Queenstown.

Christchurch

Recovering from the earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 was no easy task, but Christchurch has faced the challenges with aplomb.
On the 15th (Sat), do a tasting at Marlborough Vineyards.
