Museum-lovers will appreciate JMSDF Kure Museum and Schmoe House. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Daishoin Temple and Senjokaku. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Hiroshima: Former Naval Academy (in Etajima), Hatsukaichi (Itsukushima Shrine, Itsukushima Shrine Torii, & more) and Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street (in Miyajima). Calgary, Canada to Hiroshima is an approximately 19-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly. The time zone difference moving from Mountain Standard Time (MST) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is 16 hours. When traveling from Calgary in May, plan for somewhat warmer days and much hotter nights in Hiroshima: temperatures range from 28°C by day to 18°C at night. You can do a combination of flight and train from Tokyo to Kutchan-cho in 7 hours. Other options are to do a combination of train, taxi, and flight; or take a train. Traveling from Tokyo in May, expect Kutchan-cho to be a bit cooler, temps between 17°C and 14°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can travel back home.
