Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get a sense of the local culture at Sensō-ji and Edo-Tokyo Museum. Visit Imperial Palace and Kōtoku-in for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Tokyo side-trips: Ghibli Museum (in Mitaka) and Kamakura (Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine & Hase-dera). And it doesn't end there: admire the masterpieces at Tokyo National Museum, make a trip to Tsukiji Market, wander the streets of Akihabara, and get curious at National Museum of Nature and Science.

Taipei, Taiwan to Tokyo is an approximately 6.5-hour flight. Traveling from Taipei to Tokyo, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Taipei in April, things will get slightly colder in Tokyo: highs are around 20°C and lows about 15°C. A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Escape the urban bustle at Yabiji and Sunayama Beach. There's still lots to do: stroll through Yonaha Maehama Beach, snap pictures at Irabu Bridge, visit a coastal fixture at Higashi Hennazaki Lighthouse, and make a trip to Ikema Ohashi Bridge.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Sanjusangendo Temple and Kinkaku-ji are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Visit Nijo Castle and Tōdai-ji for their historical value. Venture out of the city with trips to Osaka Castle (in Osaka) and Nara Park (in Nara). There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari Taisha, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kiyomizu-dera, don't miss a visit to Gion, and admire the striking features of Daigo-ji Temple Niomon.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Miyakojima to Kyoto in 5 hours. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Miyakojima in April: high temperatures in Kyoto hover around 22°C and lows are around 11°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Tue) early enough to take a train to Himeji.
