Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Step off the beaten path and head to Samurai Armor Photo Studio and Chidorigafuchi. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Nikko National Park and Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park. Pack the 17th (Thu) with family-friendly diversions at Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura. On the 20th (Sun), walk around Onshi Hakone Park, contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Ashi (Ashinoko), then see the interesting displays at Lalique Museum Hakone, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Choanji Temple. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: admire the masterpieces at The Hakone Open-Air Museum and then take some stellar pictures from Hakone Ropeway.

You can drive from Nikko to Hakone-machi in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a train. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Nikko in June: high temperatures in Hakone-machi hover around 68°F and lows are around 65°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) to allow enough time to travel to Kyoto.
