The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Kick off your visit on the 19th (Sat): take in the spiritual surroundings of Haedong Yonggung Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Beomeosa Temple, and then snap pictures at Gwangandaegyo Bridge. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: tour the pleasant surroundings at Yongdusan Park, hunt for treasures at Jagalchi Market, and then wander the streets of Gamcheon Culture Village.

Getting from Seoul to Busan by train takes about 3 hours. Other options: fly; or drive. Expect somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Seoul in October: highs in Busan hover around 26°C, while lows dip to 15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 21st (Mon) so you can travel to Hiroshima.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 24th (Sun): get great views at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, then steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple, and then take a stroll through Gion. On the next day, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ryoanji Temple, then browse the different shops at Kyoto Station Building, and finally steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine.

Kyoto is very close to Osaka. In February, plan for daily highs up to 11°C, and evening lows to 1°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 26th (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Tokyo.
