With a nickname like the "Pearl of the Orient," it's not surprising Shanghai offers some of the most rewarding attractions and activities in the Far East.
Get outdoors at Jinshan City Beach and Jiaxing South Lake. Explore hidden gems such as Xitang Ancient Town and Tongli Town. Get out of town with these interesting Shanghai side-trips: Jiaxing Ancient Town Tianning Scenic Resort (in Jiashan County) and Kunshan (Jinxi Town & Zhouzhuang Boat). There's much more to do: see the interesting displays at Shanghai Museum (Shanghai Bowuguan), enjoy the sand and surf at Jinshan Beach, take a stroll through Former French Concession, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Longhua Temple.

Getting from Beijing to Shanghai by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Other options: do a combination of shuttle and flight; or drive. While traveling from Beijing, expect a bit cooler days and a bit warmer nights in Shanghai, ranging from highs of 33°C to lows of 25°C. On the 24th (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Hong Kong.
