Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima will appeal to history buffs. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Batalha Monastery and Praia da Nazare. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lisbon: Quinta da Regaleira (in Sintra), Cascais (Guincho Beach & Duna Da Cresmina) and Fatima (Capela Das Aparicoes & Paroquia de Fatima e dos Pastorinhos). The adventure continues: step into the grandiose world of Castelo de Óbidos, get some thrills on the water with a speed boat tour, take in the spiritual surroundings of Templo Romano de Evora (Templo de Diana), and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Convento de Cristo.
