A popular resort town with many hot springs and long, man-made white sand beaches, Shirahama-cho draws scores of tourists.
Get some historical perspective at Oyunohara and Hosshinmon Oji. Step off the beaten path and head to Shirarahama Beach and Ruins of Takijiri-oji. Go for a jaunt from Shirahama-cho to Minabe-cho to see Oji Shrine about 56 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: head outdoors with Ezura Beach, kick back and relax at Rinkaiura Beach, see the interesting displays at Minakata Kumagusu Museum, and observe the fascinating underwater world at Adventure World.
