Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Hase-dera Temple and Nezu Shrine. Do some cultural sightseeing at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Senso-ji Temple. When in Tokyo, make a side trip to see Kōtoku-in in Kamakura, approximately Kamakura away. The adventure continues: admire the natural beauty at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, wander the streets of Akihabara, get a taste of the local shopping with Ginza, and make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji. Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Dotombori District and Nishiki Market Shopping District. Step out of Kyoto to go to Osaka and see Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum, which is approximately 50 minutes away. There's much more to do: explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Chion-in Temple, steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and don't miss a visit to Heian Shrine.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Get in touch with nature at Yabiji and Sunayama Beach. Discover out-of-the-way places like Scuba & Snorkeling and Aragusuku Beach.
