You've added Omoide Yokocho, Akihabara, Shinjuku Golden Gai, and other attractions to your itinerary. Next up on the itinerary: wander the streets of Ueno, get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, stroll through Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji.

Amsterdam, Holland to Tokyo is an approximately 15.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Traveling from Amsterdam to Tokyo, you'll lose 8 hours due to the time zone difference. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Amsterdam in October, with highs in Tokyo at 26°C and lows at 18°C. You will have some time to spend on the 18th (Fri) before leaving for Nikko.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Nikko takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. While traveling from Tokyo, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Nikko, ranging from highs of 22°C to lows of 19°C. On the 20th (Sun), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Odawara.

Flanked on two sides by the Hakone Mountains, Odawara serves as a popular base for visits to the nearby Hakone hot springs, although the city boasts its own hot spring, as well as a scenic coastal area known for its clear, unspoiled waters.

You can take a train from Nikko to Odawara in 3 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. Traveling from Nikko in October, expect nights in Odawara to be about the same, around 17°C, while days are little chillier, around 19°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 22nd (Tue) to allow time to take a train to Kanazawa.

When traveling from Odawara in October, plan for somewhat warmer days in Kanazawa, with highs around 24°C, while nights are about the same with lows around 15°C. You'll have a few hours on the 24th (Thu) to wrap things up before traveling to Hiroshima.
