You can take a train from Hakone-machi to Kanazawa in 4.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or do a combination of flight and bus. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Hakone-machi in April: highs in Kanazawa hover around 20°C, while lows dip to 8°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.
