As the political and cultural capital of China, Beijing stands at the heart of Chinese history, buzzing with the energy of its high population density and centuries of importance.
Step off the beaten path and head to Jingshan Park (Jingshan Gongyuan) and Gate of Heavenly Peace (Tian'an Men). Summer Palace (Yiheyuan) and Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang) are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get some cultural insight at Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bongeunsa Temple. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Changdeokgung Palace and Deoksugung.
