Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Otaru Canal as well as Sumiyoshi Shrine. Do a combination of flight and train from Osaka to Otaru in 5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of train and flight. In September, Otaru is little chillier than Osaka - with highs of 23°C and lows of 20°C. On the 23rd (Mon), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Sapporo.

A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
You've now added Hokkaido Jingu to your itinerary. On the 23rd (Mon), walk around Odori Park. Here are some ideas for day two: steep yourself in history at Hokkaido Jingu, enjoy breathtaking views from Okurayama Lookout, then contemplate the long history of Sapporo Clock Tower, and finally make a trip to Former Hokkaido Government Office Building.
