Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Head to Ginza and Asakusafor plenty of shopping. Visiting Moroiso Shores and Kimono Me will get you outdoors. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Get a sense of the local culture at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Kinkaku-ji. Take a break from the city and head to Fuuka-Kimono and Yase Momiji no Komichi. There's much more to do: don't miss a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, wander the streets of Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Ginkakuji Temple, and take in the pleasant sights at Arashiyama.

The country's first established capital, Nara houses some of the most storied buildings and natural attractions in Japan, with eight World Heritage Sites in total.
Todai-ji Temple and Kofuku-ji Temple will appeal to history buffs. Visiting Nara Park and Mt.Takami will get you outdoors. When in Nara, make a side trip to see Akame Shijuhachi Waterfall in Nabari, approximately 58 minutes away. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kasuga Grand Shrine, stop by Naramachi Nakanishi Yosaburo, take a peaceful walk through Kasugayama, and see the interesting displays at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center.

Visiting Mt. Koya and Arima Onsen will get you outdoors. Your inner history buff will appreciate Himeji Castle and Osaka Castle. There's still lots to do: take a stroll through Dotonbori, get in on the family fun at Universal Studios Japan, meet the residents at Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, and shop like a local with Minami (Namba).
