The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Fukuoka is known for historic sites, shopping, parks, nightlife, and museums. Taipei, Taiwan to Fukuoka is an approximately 7-hour combination of car and flight. You can also drive. The time zone changes from China Standard Time (CST) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually a 1 hour difference. The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
On the 4th (Sat), take in the pleasant sights at Himeji Castle, then trek along Mt Shosha hiking, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Nagoyama Reien Busharito. Here are some ideas for day two: make a trip to Shoshazan Ropeway, don't miss a visit to Shoshazan Engyoji, don't miss a visit to Otemae Street, then admire the natural beauty at Koko-en Garden, then don't miss a visit to Viewing Deck, Himeji Station Square, and finally admire the natural beauty at Sunken Garden, Castle Garden.

Getting from Fukuoka to Himeji by combination of flight and train takes about 4 hours. Other options: take a train; or drive. Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): contemplate the long history of Heian Shrine, then steep yourself in history at Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, and then steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get engrossed in the history at Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, then step into the grandiose world of Nijo Castle, and finally take a stroll through Gion.

You can take a train from Himeji to Kyoto in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daytime highs in Kyoto are 22°C, while nighttime lows are 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 7th (Tue) so you can take a train to Nagoya.
