You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum and Szechenyi Zsigmond Hunting Museum - Hatvan. Get in touch with nature at Margaret Island and Nemzeti Botanikus Kert. Get out of town with these interesting Budapest side-trips: Alcsut Arboretum (in Alcsutdoboz), Esztergom (Turkish Mosque & Esztergom Basilica / Cathedral) and Szekesfehervar - Our Lady - John of Nepomuk Parish Church (in Szekesfehervar). Szeged is the third largest city of Hungary, the largest city and regional centre of the Southern Great Plain and the county seat of Csongrád county. Visiting Buffalo Reservation and Beach will get you outdoors. Let the collections at Black House and Dry Mill capture your imagination. Venture out of the city with trips to Reformed Church of Ocsod (in Ocsod), Szarvas (Bolza Castle & Centre of Historical Hungary) and Jonathermal Medical Bath and Water Park (in Kiskunmajsa).
