The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Eikando Zenrinji Temple and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Nijo Castle and Kinkaku-ji. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Osaka (Osaka Castle & Universal Studios Japan). There's more to do: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and take in the spiritual surroundings of Ryoanji Temple.

Cartagena, Colombia to Kyoto is an approximately 28-hour combination of flight and train. You can also fly. The time zone changes from Colombia Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 14 hour difference. In July, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 37°C, while at night they dip to 28°C. You can take a train from Kyoto to Hiroshima in 2 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Mon) so you can travel to Ishigaki.

Step off the beaten path and head to Stand-Up Paddleboarding and Kayaking & Canoeing. Get outdoors at Yonehara Beach and Kondoi Beach. There's lots more to do: head outdoors with Cape Hirakubozaki, enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory, and stroll around Kabira Park.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki in 5.5 hours. Another option is to fly. Traveling from Hiroshima in July, plan for a bit warmer nights in Ishigaki, with lows around 32°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Thu) to allow enough time to ride a ferry to Iriomote-jima.
