Kick off your visit on the 9th (Wed): get outside with Gongenmori Beach, sample the tasty concoctions at Yachiya Sake Brewery, then explore the historical opulence of Kanazawa Castle, then take in nature's colorful creations at Kenrokuen Garden, and finally explore the world behind art at 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the long history of Nomura Family Samurai House, make a trip to Omicho Market, admire the striking features of Kanazawa Station, then take a stroll through Higashichaya Old Town, then see the interesting displays at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum for Traditional Products and Crafts, and finally make a trip to Seisonkaku Villa.

Toronto, Canada to Kanazawa is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of ferry and flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 14 hour difference. Traveling from Toronto in September, expect somewhat warmer with lows of 21°C in Kanazawa. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka--about 1h 15 min away. There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take in the pleasant sights at Arashiyama, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, and contemplate the long history of Heian Shrine.

Traveling by train from Kanazawa to Kyoto takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In September, daily temperatures in Kyoto can reach 33°C, while at night they dip to 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Himeji.

Kick off your visit on the 15th (Tue): admire the natural beauty at Koko-en Garden, then explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, then make a trip to Shoshazan Engyoji, and finally take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Takamikura.

On the 18th (Fri), walk around Azumino Chihiro Park, then admire the masterpieces at Chihiro Art Museum Azumino, then go for a walk through Matsumoto Castle, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at Kirigamine Marshland. Keep things going the next day: contemplate the waterfront views at Pond Tashiro, then head outdoors with Mt.
