On your second day here, pause for some serene contemplation at Temple of St. Seraphim of Sarov, take in the spiritual surroundings of Constantine and Helen Cathedral, then learn about all things military at National Museum of Kazakhstan, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Hazret Sultan Mosque, and finally take in the architecture and atmosphere at Assumption Cathedral.

Bangkok, Thailand to Nur-Sultan is an approximately 11-hour flight. You can also drive. The time zone difference moving from Indochina Time to Alma-Ata Time is minus 1 hour. While traveling from Bangkok, expect little chillier days and cooler nights in Nur-Sultan, ranging from highs of 30°C to lows of 15°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 6th (Tue) to allow time to travel to Almaty.

Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Escape the urban bustle at Ski Tourism Complex Safed Dara and Karatag Gorge. Popular historic sites such as Hisor Fortress and Mevlana Yakub Charki Mosque are in your itinerary. There's lots more to do: get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Tajikistan, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Fann Mountains, and walk around Rudaki Park.

You can do a combination of bus and flight from Bishkek to Dushanbe in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and car. The time zone difference moving from Kirgizstan Time (KGT) to Tajikistan Time (TJT) is minus 1 hour. When traveling from Bishkek in August, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Dushanbe: temperatures range from 42°C by day to 19°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 17th (Sat) to allow time to drive to Samarkand.
