The coastal city of Karatsu has long held importance for trade with China and the Korean Peninsula.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Onsen Resorts as well as Karatsu Castle. Kick off your visit on the 20th (Fri): indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, kick back and relax at Nijino Matsubara, step into the grandiose world of Karatsu Castle, steep yourself in history at Former Takatori House, then take in nature's colorful creations at Mifuneyama Rakuen, and finally stop by Genemongama Aritakamamoto. On the next day, browse the eclectic array of goods at Yobuko Morning Market, don't miss a visit to Nagoya Castle Ruins, contemplate the waterfront views at Hado Misaki, then contemplate the waterfront views at Nanatsugama Caves, and finally don't miss a visit to Imari Okawachiyama.

To find ratings, other places to visit, where to stay, and tourist information, use the Karatsu sightseeing planning website .

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major airport is Fukuoka Airport. Expect a daytime high around 12°C in December, and nighttime lows around 10°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
