Osaka Station City has been added to your itinerary. Head to Dotombori District and Tower Knives Osakafor plenty of shopping. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Toshodai-ji Temple and Cup Noodle Museum Osaka Ikeda. Sydney, Australia to Osaka is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also fly. The time zone difference moving from Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) to Japan Standard Time (JST) is minus 1 hour. Plan for cooler temperatures traveling from Sydney in December, with highs in Osaka at 13°C and lows at 4°C. On the 4th (Sat), you'll travel to Himeji.

The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Sun): see the interesting displays at Japan Toy Museum, explore the historical opulence of Himeji Castle, then look for gifts at Yamasa Kamaboko Yumesenkan, and finally indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens.

Traveling by train from Osaka to Himeji takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In January, daily temperatures in Himeji can reach 10°C, while at night they dip to 3°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Sun) to allow time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Shop till you drop at Nishiki Market Shopping District and Ippodo Tea Kyoto. Get a sense of the local culture at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Shimogamo Jinja. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, take a stroll through Gion, steep yourself in history at Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, and admire the striking features of Ninna-ji Temple.

Traveling by train from Himeji to Kyoto takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In January in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 10°C during the day and 1°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 8th (Wed) early enough to travel to Tokyo.
