Considered a cultural, artistic, and architectural jewel of Italy, Florence is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.
Visit Historic Centre of San Gimignano and Piazza del Duomo for their historical value. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Abbazia di San Galgano and Loggia dei Lanzi. Take a break from Florence with a short trip to Torre Grossa in San Gimignano, about 50 minutes away. There's lots more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, explore the world behind art at Gallerie Degli Uffizi, and see the interesting displays at Academy Of Florence Art Gallery.
