Areni is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. Start off your visit on the 30th (Tue): explore the stunning scenery at Noravank Gorge, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Noravank Monastery, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Astvatsatsin Church. On your second day here, do a tasting at Areni Wine Factory, learn about winemaking at Hin Areni Winery, and then do a tasting at Momik Wines.

Alaverdi, Armenia

Alaverdi, is a town in the Lori Province at the northeastern part of Armenia, near the border with Georgia. Start off your visit on the 2nd (Thu): explore the activities along Dzoraget River and then see the interesting displays at Hovhannes Tumanyan House-Museum. On the next day, get engrossed in the history at Mikoyan Brothers Museum, steep yourself in history at Sanahin Bridge, and then explore the ancient world of Haghpat Monastery.

Traveling by car from Areni to Alaverdi takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus. You'll gain 1 hour traveling from Areni to Alaverdi due to the time zone difference. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Alaverdi in December: high temperatures in Dilijan hover around 3°C and lows are around -7°C.
