Snaking up the side of a rounded, tree-dotted hill, Hobart sits between Tasmania’s sprawling mountains and the vast estuary of the River Derwent.
Museum of Old and New Art (Mona) and Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery will appeal to museum buffs. Escape the urban bustle at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary and Dolphin & Whale Watching. Step out of Hobart to go to Buckland and see St John the Baptist Chuch, which is approximately 56 minutes away. The adventure continues: take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mount Wellington, take in nature's colorful creations at Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, contemplate the long history of Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, and take a tour of May Queen.
