Nestled between the sea and the mountains, Hualien boasts a number of attractions, both natural and manmade.
Get outdoors at Zhuilu Old Trail and Sixty Rock Mountain. Holy Temple and Tianfeng Pagoda are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Hualien: Sanxiantai (in Chenggong Township) and Taitung Brown's Road (in Chishang). And it doesn't end there: trek along Shakadang Trail, head outdoors with Yuquan Temple Climbing Trail, make a trip to Principal Dream Factory, and contemplate the waterfront views at Shihtiping.

A small trading town in the 17th century, Kaohsiung now stands as a sprawling metropolis, its harbor representing the largest on the island.
Kick off your visit on the 25th (Mon): browse the eclectic array of goods at Kuchan Shopping District, then get outside with Seaside Park, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fo Guang Shan. Located on the southern tip of the eponymous peninsula, Hengchun serves as the entry point to Kenting National Park, often attracting more travelers than locals with its tropical beach resorts and bustling night markets.
On the 27th (Wed), observe the fascinating underwater world at National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, then look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas, and then see the interesting displays at Taipower.
