The city of Imabari encompasses several islands in Japan's inland sea, and due to this strategic location it changed hands regularly during the feudal era.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Imabari: Matsuyama (Okaido Shopping Street, Matsuyama Castle, & more) and Saijo (Nishiyama Koryuji Temple, Mt. Ishizuchi, & more). The adventure continues: enjoy breathtaking views from Mt. Kiro Observatory Park, step into the grandiose world of Imabari Castle, explore the landscape on two wheels at Michi-no-Eki Tatara Shimanami Park, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Oyamazumi Shrine.

A relatively new city, Miyoshi encompasses six surrounding rural districts into one.
Explore Miyoshi's surroundings by going to Nogi Museum (in Zentsuji), Senryuji Temple (in Shikokuchuo) and Kotohira-cho (Kotohiragu shrine office, Kotohira-gu, & more). There's still lots to do: snap pictures at Iya Kazura Bridge, soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens, take in the spiritual surroundings of Hashikuraji Temple, and take some stellar pictures from Befukyo Canyon.

You can take a train from Kochi to Miyoshi in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and taxi. When traveling from Kochi in November, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Miyoshi: temperatures range from 17°C by day to 9°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Sun) so you can take a train to Takamatsu.
