Often referred to as the "Belly Button of Japan," the city of Shibukawa celebrates its status as the country's geographical center by hosting the Heso Matsuri, or Belly Button Festival.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Gunma Natural Museum and Kita Yatsuga-take. Get some cultural insight at Kurino Komichi and Ikaho Toy, Doll and Car Museum. Change things up with these side-trips from Shibukawa: Katashina-mura (Ozegahara & White World Oze Iwakura), Kaminaridaki Falls (in Takayama-mura) and Tomioka (Ichinomiya Nukisaki Shrine & Myogi Shrine). There's lots more to do: explore the activities along Pond Shirakoma, take in the awesome beauty at Akiyamago, tour the pleasant surroundings at Nanohana Park, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Furumine Jinja.

If you are flying in from Indonesia, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. Expect a daytime high around 19°C in April, and nighttime lows around 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
