The resort town of Beppu puts the geothermal nature of the region to good use.
Do your shopping at Beppu City Traditional Bamboo Crafts Center and Angel Kimono Rental Beppu. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Tanoura Beach and Matama Beach. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Beppu: Bungotakada (Tennen-ji Temple & Kumano Magaibutsu) and Usajingu Shrine (in Usa). There's much more to do: witness a stunning natural landmark at Hells of Beppu, don't miss a visit to Chinoike Jigoku, admire the landmark architecture of JR Oita City, and identify plant and animal life at Oniyama Jigoku.
