On the 8th (Fri), steep yourself in history at Todai-ji Temple, explore the activities along Sarusawa Pond, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kofuku-ji Temple, take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Wakakusa, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Kasuga Grand Shrine, and finally get engrossed in the history at Nara National Museum.

Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Kick off your visit on the 8th (Fri): admire the masterpieces at The Hakone Open-Air Museum, then look for all kinds of wild species at Hakone Shisseikaen, then don't miss a visit to Kiunkaku, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Izusan Jinja Shrine.

Traveling by train from Nara to Hakone-machi takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Nara in June, expect Hakone-machi to be little chillier, temps between 68°F and 65°F. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 9th (Sat) to allow enough time to drive to Tokyo.
