Do some cultural sightseeing at Odaiba and Tokyo National Museum. Let the collections at Edo-Tokyo Museum and Ghibli Museum Mitaka capture your imagination. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Sensō-ji, make a trip to Meiji Jingu Shrine, admire the landmark architecture of Tokyo Tower, and wander the streets of Akihabara.

The resort town of Yamanouchi-machi has plenty of contrasting, but complementary things going for it.
Visiting Jigokudani Snow Monkey Park and Shinetsu Trail will get you outdoors. Appreciate the collections at The Japanease Memorial Museum of Skiing and Arts Festival of the Village of the Earth. Get out of town with these interesting Yamanouchi-machi side-trips: Nozawa Onsen (in Nozawaonsen-mura) and Ike no Taira Shitsugen (in Tomi).

You can do a combination of train and taxi from Tokyo to Yamanouchi-machi in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus.
