Vancouver, Canada to Kanazawa is an approximately 14-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of flight and bus. You'll lose 17 hours traveling from Vancouver to Kanazawa due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Vancouver in June, expect Kanazawa to be a bit warmer, temps between 28°C and 20°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 7th (Sun) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

Take a break from Kyoto with a short trip to Todai-ji Temple in Nara, about 1 hour away. There's much more to do: steep yourself in history at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, don't miss a visit to Arashiyama, and take a stroll through Gion.

You can take a train from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 2.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a bus. In June, daytime highs in Kyoto are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 22°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 11th (Thu) early enough to catch the train to Osaka.
