A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Sapporo Crab Market, Hokkaido Sapporo Tourist Information Center, Botanic Garden Hokkaido University, and other attractions. Step out of Sapporo to go to Otaru and see Otaru Canal, which is approximately 46 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: stroll around Odori Park, get into the urban bustle at Sapporo Underground Shopping Centre Aurora Town, get great views at Mt. Moiwa, and take in panoramic vistas at Okurayama Lookout.

Los Angeles, USA to Sapporo is an approximately 18.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 17 hours traveling from Los Angeles to Sapporo. While traveling from Los Angeles, expect much colder days and slightly colder nights in Sapporo, ranging from highs of 47°F to lows of 43°F. On the 17th (Fri), you're off to Abashiri.

A coastal town with a smattering of things to do, Abashiri has an interesting history and arresting natural scenery.
Start off your visit on the 17th (Fri): walk around Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park and then contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Abashiri.

You can drive from Sapporo to Abashiri in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or take a train. Expect a bit cooler evenings in Abashiri when traveling from Sapporo in April, with lows around 38°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Sun) to allow time to travel to Otofuke-cho.

You can drive from Abashiri to Otofuke-cho in 3.5 hours. In April in Otofuke-cho, expect temperatures between 48°F during the day and 42°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 20th (Mon) early enough to travel to Noboribetsu.

On the 20th (Mon), get in on the family fun at Noboribetsu Date Historic Village, take in the dramatic natural features at Jigokudani, and then witness a stunning natural landmark at Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath.
