A global center of finance and transportation, Frankfurt is perhaps best known for its futuristic cityscape.
Visit Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (Dom St. Bartholomaus) and Schwetzingen Palace for their historical value. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Museum Embankment and Auto & Technik Museum (Automobile and Technology Museum). Get out of town with these interesting Frankfurt side-trips: Heidelberg (Altstadt (Old Town) & Pharmacy Museum) and Speyer (Speyer Cathedral & Technik Museum Speyer). There's lots more to do: browse the eclectic array of goods at Kleinmarkthalle, take in the views from Iron Bridge, and get great views at Main Tower.
