Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Let the collections at Magical World of Shells Museum and National Museum of Contemporary History capture your imagination. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Nature & Wildlife Tours and National Gallery. Change things up with a short trip to St. George's Church in Piran (about 1h 30 min away). Dedicate the 25th (Sat) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Franciscan Church of the Annunciation, contemplate the waterfront views at Ljubljanica River, appreciate the extensive heritage of Cankarjevo Nabrežje, and make a trip to Ljubljana Castle.
