Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Start off your visit on the 20th (Fri): examine the collection at El Museo Castillo Serralles, get engrossed in the history at Museo de Arte de Ponce, and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of our Lady of Guadaloupe. Keep things going the next day: examine the collection at Parque de Bombas and then head off the coast to Isla de Caja de Muertos.

A seaside playground in the Caribbean, Rincon was a small agricultural and fishing town until it hosted the 1968 World Surfing Championship.
El Faro Lighthouse and Parroquia San Jose De La Montana will appeal to history buffs. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Playa Sucia and Sandy Beach. Get out of town with these interesting Rincon side-trips: Crashboat Beach (in Aguadilla), Ermita San Antonio De Padua De La Tuna (in Isabela) and Los Morrillos Lighthouse (in Cabo Rojo). There's more to do: kick back and relax at Domes Beach and look for gifts at Rincon Art Walk.

Traveling by car from Ponce to Rincon takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of shuttle and flight. For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Caracas Beach and Secret Beach. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Fortin Conde de Mirasol Museum and El Hombre de Puerto Ferro. The adventure continues: enjoy the sand and surf at La Chiva, stroll through Media Luna Beach, contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Bay Beach, and take a leisurely stroll along Malecon.

Fly from Rincon to Isla de Vieques in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of car and ferry; or do a combination of car, shuttle, and ferry. In December, plan for daily highs up to 84°F, and evening lows to 75°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 28th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Culebra.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Tamarindo Beach and Zoni Beach. We've included these beaches for you: Flamenco Beach and Carlos Rosario Beach. The adventure continues: step off the mainland to explore Culebrita Island, browse the collection at Culebra Public Library, and kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach.

Traveling by combination of car and flight from Isla de Vieques to Culebra takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry. In December in Culebra, expect temperatures between 85°F during the day and 75°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 31st (Tue) to allow time to fly to San Juan.
